Ballet Magnificat

I had the pleasure of watching a ballet troop based out of Jackson, MS practicing for their upcoming holiday touring performance.  It was amazing to see how graceful the dancers were as they leaped and glided across the floor.  They moved in unison as if they were as light as a feature, truly a beautiful thing to see.

I learned that the dancers are not only from the United States but from other countries as well.  Their passion for what they do was so obvious and I could feel the energy.

They will be traveling across the United States on tour and if you have a chance to go see their performance it will be well worth it.  Go to http://www.balletmagnificat.com to check out their schedule.

The Journey Begins

I like to find new places with my travels, try new local foods and find interesting places to visit.  I have just returned from a work trip to Vicksburg, Mississippi.  This is a town of very friendly people and a laid back way of life.

When in Vicksburg you should visit the Vicksburg National Military Park, I drove my car through the trail and was amazed at the beauty but also taken by the history that took place here.  In 1863 Vicksburg was under siege by the Union army which lasted several days and when taking the tour you see the blue signs indicating the Union’s hold which covered almost the entire park.  Then near the end of the tour red signs showing where the Confederate solders held their ground.

The battle ran from May through June of 1863 and the Confederate army surrendered on July 4th.  This is considered the battle that ended the Civil War.
